Remote Training: HT Backup for MEDITECH

Instructor Led, Web Based “Open” Learning Course

Target Audience

Current BridgeHead customers which have experienced IT staff turnover or where a refresher course is desired.

We recognize that we have many customers whose current staff received BridgeHead training some time ago, or who have seen turnover/change in staff who use and monitor BridgeHead backups.

Purpose

To expand the availability and ease of acquiring BridgeHead knowledge and expertise.

We appreciate that both cost and staff availability can be a problem for many customers when it comes to a full-day, dedicated training course. BridgeHead is addressing this problem by providing this instructor-led, web-based “Web Based Open Learning Course”.

Overview

The Open Learning Course will employ the standard course manuals delivered to attendees of our regular, dedicated courses, but instead be provided via a combination of MS Live Meeting & telephone conferencing.

Material will be presented in discrete blocks, spread over 5 days (usually 4 hours per day). Your key IT staff will still have a number of hours each day to attend to normal business requirements.

Key lessons (1 & 11) will be targeted toward specific MEDITECH certified partner SAN platforms.

1  Backing up MEDITECH Explains why MEDITECH requires special backup and restore techniques.

Explains how HT Backup meets these requirements.
Explains why your hospital purchased HT Backup.
 
2  Enterprise Backup
Concepts		 HT Backup is an enterprise product. It was initially designed to provide centralized backup and restore capability for organizations with different platforms and remote data centers.

A number of our smaller customers appreciate assistance migrating from departmental to enterprise technology.

This module also introduces some terms that are specific to HT Backup.
 
3  System Architecture HT Backup is a modular product. An understanding of how the modules work with each other is the foundation for using HT Backup effectively.
 
4 Navigating the
Management Console
 		 The Management Console is the portal to accessing HT Backup functionality.
5 Creating and Modifying
Schedules		 BridgeHead Software has introduced a new scheduler. The new scheduler simplifies the combination of start times, generations and media selection. It allows for multiple runs per day.

The new scheduler is shipped to new customers. It is available to existing customers.
 
6   Windows Object
Configuration		 A practical session on how to back up a Windows server using HT Backup.

This skill is the basis for creating other backup objects.
 
7 Restoring Files A practical session on best practice for retrieving:
  • Individual files
  • Folders
  • Systems
8 Managing Media Media Manager is a powerful tool that enables a hospital to extract the most value from its storage infrastructure.

This module explains the concepts used by Media Manager to:
  • Manage Media
  • Map the storage environment

This module will also step through the practical steps of:

  • Rotating media
  • Initializing media
  • Creating Media Pools
9 Monitoring the System Do you have confidence that your backups are running correctly? Monitoring the System guides you through the daily routine and non-routine tasks that will allow you to sleep soundly at night. It also covers simple failure investigation.
 
10  Advanced
Backup		 HT Backup has a powerful set of features that a number of our customers are unaware of. Many of these features are capable of resolving long term problems that customers have been experiencing.
 
11 ISB/IDR Configuration &
Restore		 This module explains the basic concepts of configuring and restoring ISB/IDR objects.

This module introduces HT Backup's new tool that simplifies ISB and IDR restores.
