VNA Does Not Equal Hospital Data Availability
Health IT teams need to plan for availability of all types of data in a hospital. This includes DICOM images, non-DICOM images and non-image, or enterprise, data. A single technology approach is not the whole answer for hospital data management. Instead, an approach which combines the strengths of a variety of technologies will provide the best result. Consider an approach which includes:
- DICOM content archive, often called VNA
- Enterprise archive
- Data protection
- Disaster recovery, including local and remote site
- Long-term data retention
- For all types of hospital data
Taking a unified approach to managing all types of hospital data will help make your environment more cost-effective to operate. But the key benefit that you gain is assured availability of all of the types of data in the hospital, so that your clinicians can deliver good quality patient care.
