Implementing Shared Care Records Using FHIR

At the HIMSS Conference in Florida, back in March, BridgeHead decided to participate in a relatively new initiative at the show – the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase. To qualify, vendors would have to demonstrate interoperability between their own solution and that of their neighbors in support of a pre-determined care pathway.

For this event, BridgeHead had to show that our Clinical Data Repository, HealthStore®; could exchange data in a live environment with EPIC, Oracle Health, and the US Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) all in support of the cancer care pathway.

In this video, our Director of Global Product Management, Tim Kaschinske, demonstrates:

  • How we were able to share patient information from HealthStore with EPIC, Oracle Health, and the CDC using the FHIR interoperability standard
  • How HealthStore could query these systems to establish the patient data available across the ecosystem (again using FHIR)
  • How HealthStore could receive and ingest data from these systems and assign it to the correct patient
  • How users could then view this data within HealthStore as part of a shared care record.
