A long-time MEDITECH hospital, Valley Children’s needed to reduce the cost of storage. They selected NetApp with BridgeHead, and reduced their storage footprint for backup by 4:1.
Why BridgeHead?
- BridgeHead’s support for MEDITECH Backup Facility (MBF) on NetApp enabled the storage switch – using snapshot pointers instead of full mirror clones
- Improved data availability and protection levels as compared to EMC NetWorker, which was replaced at the hospital with the BridgeHead HDM solution
- BridgeHead FileStore for MEDITECH SCA for file stubbing and writing to tape – “.. the only realistic solution for reducing the size and space used by older archive files.”
Valley Children’s now runs MEDITECH on FlexPod storage, using BridgeHead HDM software to protect, archive and preserve that data using FAS 3250 storage. This deployment is a good example of the HealthStore for FlexPod solution, introduced in March 2014.
