Initially, Nuffield Health wanted to implement a complete, hosted, remote service for its radiology teams across its 31 hospital sites. This included PACS, RIS and VNA, all provided in a private cloud. In a later phase, Nuffield also wanted to offer its radiology consultants a diagnostic grade viewer to provide access to patients’ medical images and supporting data, from any location and on any device, in the event of planned or unplanned PACS downtime, to ensure business continuity.

BridgeHead’s HealthStore was deployed as part of the technology stack fronted by Capita Group (a large public sector systems integrator). Today, HealthStore manages all of Nuffield’s radiology images from across its 31 hospital sites – all stored, protected and accessible across the organisation in the Capita cloud. More recently, BridgeHead’s universal viewer was successfully deployed so that clinicians could access patient images when the PACS radiology system is unavailable.
