Vendor-Neutral Healthcare Data Management platform enables hospital to implement backup and archive system with improved storage efficiency and lowered administration burden

WOBURN, MA – September 24, 2013BridgeHead Software today announced that Rochelle Community Hospital, which provides a variety of health and wellness services for the city of Rochelle and surrounding rural communities in Northern Illinois, has deployed BridgeHead’s Healthcare Data Management (HDM) solution as the backbone of its hierarchical storage management system.  BridgeHead’s vendor-neutral HDM has enabled the hospital to implement a backup and archive system with improved storage efficiency and lowered administration burden.

“BridgeHead’s vendor neutrality made architecting and implementing a multi-tiered storage architecture easy,” said Scott Stewart, manager of information systems, Rochelle Community Hospital. “Once we had some specs and speeds from BridgeHead, we could buy anything we wanted. Since BridgeHead is independent of any hardware, we could maximize our budget with lower-cost storage.”

At Rochelle Community Hospital, MEDITECH SCA images are protected along with MEDITECH 6.0 data, using the integrated backup and archive capabilities provided by BridgeHead HDM. Because the BridgeHead approach to healthcare data management includes tiered storage management for both backup and archive copies of clinical data, the hospital was able to use cost-efficient NAS devices for their secondary storage. In this project, Rochelle Community Hospital standardized protection using the following BridgeHead HDM products:

  • BridgeHead Integrated Serverless Backup (ISB)
  • BridgeHead archive for MEDITECH SCA
