University Hospitals of Derby and Burton
Problem Solved
University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) is undertaking a comprehensive digital transformation project. At the Derby site, the Trust is standardising its core systems and moving data from older applications into more modern systems. As part of this project, UHDB were looking for a futureproof, comprehensive data management platform to retire its legacy application estate. Its aim was to extract and secure data living within those legacy systems to meet its regulatory and compliance obligations, such as data retention for a 25 year period; all whilst providing continued access of that information to its clinicians and support staff. As a result, UHDB purchased BridgeHead’s HealthStore® Independent Clinical Archive to meet these requirements.
Why BridgeHead?

- Confidence in both the BridgeHead team and the HealthStore solution in solving the unique challenges and opportunities UHDB faced in consolidating, storing, protecting, and sharing patient information

“This project required a strategic, future-proof solution, not one simply for the immediate application retirement work at hand, but one that could be extended for use elsewhere across the Trust. We needed to protect our data and eliminate the threat of cyberattacks; reduce the costs associated with our legacy applications, all while providing our users with continued access to the information they need, when they need it. There were very few providers that offered a comprehensive data management platform that could cater for our current and ongoing requirements. So, choosing BridgeHead’s HealthStore® was a relatively easy decision.”
